The history of Vergez Blanchard tools can be traced back to 1823, when knifemaker Louis René BLANCHARD established a studio at 37 rue des Gravilliers in Paris. The company has grown and diversified, always pursuing excellence in quality. At the Antwerp World's Fair and other exhibitions from 1885-1900, Blanchard tools won 7 gold and silver medals.
In 1901, company partner Adrien Soubeyran moved the machine tools from Paris to Romilly in Normandy to solve the problems of noise and smoke pollution, while also enlarging the workshop and taking advantage of hydraulic energy. In 1910, Louis Hippolyte Simonin (Blanchard) acquired the Vergez company and changed the name of the Blanchard company to Vergez Blanchard.
